We are seeking a skilled Senior Security Software Engineer to join our team in developing advanced network traffic analysis solutions. This role focuses on designing and implementing high-performance software for various network environments, emphasizing real-time packet inspection, security monitoring, and performance optimization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network protocols, software development, and emerging technologies like machine learning for traffic classification.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement software components for network traffic analysis and monitoring systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in systems programming (C, C++, Java, Rust, or Golang) with a deep understanding of memory management, low-level optimization, and multi-threaded programming.
  • Network and application performance and/or security expertise (Deep Packet Inspection, Intrusion Detection & Protection, QoS, QoE, Firewall).
  • Extensive knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/S, DNS, DHCP, and other relevant protocols.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise network architectures.
  • Develop high-performance, scalable DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) algorithms and tools.
  • Create solutions for network performance optimization and security monitoring.
  • Implement real-time traffic classification and protocol identification mechanisms.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network architects and security specialists.
  • Conduct performance testing and optimization of network-related software.
  • Exposure to kernel-level programming and network stack optimization.
  • BA/BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Linux Systems Engineer - Remote (US)

With your extensive experience in Linux engineering, you know how to build systems that are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance. In this role, you’ll bring that expertise to challenging and impactful projects, focusing on customizing Linux distributions and fine-tuning kernel configurations for environments in which security and reliability are non-negotiable. At Cyberspatial, your work will directly contribute to systems that support national security.

Responsibilities

  • Customize and fine-tune Linux kernels for optimal performance, security, and stability in specialized environments.
  • Build and maintain custom Linux distributions tailored to meet specific organizational requirements.
  • Develop, patch, and maintain kernel modules and device drivers to support specialized hardware and workloads.
  • Implement system-level configurations to ensure maximum efficiency of CPU, memory, I/O, and other critical resources.
  • Evaluate and benchmark hardware platforms to guide selection, integration, and optimization decisions.
  • Develop, maintain, and document automated tooling for build, configuration management, and deployment.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate kernel and distribution builds prior to release and deployment.
  • Harden and validate systems against security baselines (e.g., DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks) in coordination with security teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues; from userspace faults to kernel panics, in a methodical and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Linux-based systems with broader security and performance goals.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in Linux security practices, kernel updates, and performance enhancements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems engineering, kernel tuning, and custom distribution development.
  • Proficiency in C, Rust or Go, plus advanced scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash).
  • Strong expertise in Linux kernel internals; including scheduling, memory management, networking, and the storage/filesystem stack (VFS, block layer), with hands-on experience building and debugging kernel modules and device drivers.
  • Deep understanding of the Linux boot chain: firmware (UEFI/BIOS), bootloaders (GRUB, U-Boot), initramfs, and init systems (e.g., systemd).
  • Proven ability to create and maintain custom Linux distributions using tools like Yocto, Buildroot, or similar, including cross-compilation toolchains (GCC/Clang, binutils).
  • Proficiency with performance analysis and tracing tools (e.g., perf, ftrace, eBPF/bpftrace, strace, sysstat) and system tuning techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware performance evaluation: benchmark design and methodology, hardware performance counters (PMCs), and tuning across NUMA topology, cache hierarchies, IRQ affinity, hugepages, and CPU power/frequency states.
  • Kernel-level debugging skills: analyzing kernel panics, oops messages, and kdump crash dumps with tools such as crash and gdb, plus live kernel debugging with kgdb.
  • Hands-on experience with SELinux, AppArmor, or other Linux security frameworks, and with hardening systems to established security baselines.
  • Strong understanding of hardware architecture and low-level driver interactions.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Clear communication skills with a proven ability to document processes and mentor newer team members.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Accepted contributions to the upstream Linux kernel or other major open-source systems projects.
  • Experience with C/Rust for systems or kernel development, or Go for tooling and automation.
  • Real-time Linux experience (PREEMPT_RT) and low-latency or jitter-sensitive tuning.
  • Multi-architecture development and optimization experience (x86_64, ARM64).
  • Experience with UEFI Secure Boot, TPM-based measured boot, and FIPS-validated cryptographic modules.
  • Familiarity with cgroups, namespaces, and container runtime internals.

Backend API Engineer - Remote

We are looking for a talented and motivated Backend API Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you'll design, build, and maintain high-performance APIs that power our core products — while bringing a strong systems-level understanding of how data moves securely and efficiently through our infrastructure. If you love clean architecture, scalable systems, and writing Go code that just works, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust RESTful APIs using Golang
  • Build and optimize API endpoints for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Work closely with frontend engineers, architects, and product teams to define API contracts
  • Manage and optimize relational database schemas and queries in PostgreSQL and MySQL
  • Navigate and reason about complex, multi-service system architecture to trace data flow, debug issues, and design endpoints that fit cleanly into the broader platform
  • Apply networking and protocol-level knowledge (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS) to build APIs that perform reliably under real-world network conditions
  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to engineering best practices, and help raise the bar for the team
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely and effective manner, including issues that span API, database, and network layers

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience building backend APIs in Golang
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL)
  • Ability to write efficient SQL queries and manage database performance
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, concurrency, error handling)
  • Strong ability to navigate and understand large, interconnected codebases and system architectures
  • Knowledge of API security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting)
  • Experience working in a collaborative, agile environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with packet processing or low-level network programming
  • Familiarity with Golang concurrency primitives
